Shelburne Museum
From weathervanes, quilts and American art to transplanted 1950s-era homes, a railroad station and a fully outfitted steamboat, the Shelburne Museum really does have a little of everything on display. Nearly 40 buildings, filled with various exhibits, span the museum's 45 acres. There's even a respectable collection of impressionist paintings, featuring the works of Degas, Cassatt, Manet and Monet.
Recent visitors were equally impressed with the museum's artifacts as they were with its grounds. You can spend hours learning about the exquisite displays and buildings, but also mosey along the grounds simply taking in the beautiful scenery.
The museum is also on the grounds of the full Shelburne Farms, a 1,400-acre working farm, forest, and National Historic Landmark. Approximately 8 miles south of downtown Burlington, the Shelburne Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. From May to October, admission costs $25 for adults, $14 for youths ages 13 to 17 and $12 for children ages 5 to 12; from November to April prices are reduced to $10 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets are valid for two consecutive days. On-site parking is available for free. For more information, visit the museum's official website.
